“What Is Your Aspiration In Life?”

As children, we all talk about what we’re going to be when we grow up. It’s a dream, something we never think will happen, something we can put off for years and years. Then one day you are sitting in the careers office in your last year of high school, and they’re asking you: “What do you want to do? What do you want to pursue? What do you want to study at higher education?”

When we are young, we always have an idea of what we will do in the future. Our career choices may change over the years but all many of us want is a job we love with a salary we love too. Life starts to roll over so quickly and before we can blink we are being asked,”What do you want to do?What are you going to do now? When are you getting married?”

There is serious pressure for young people to make a decision about what they want to do for the rest of their lives. Some people may have the answers but many don’t know and there’s nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with smiling and saying, “I don’t know.”

What we want at 18 is probably not going to be the same as what we want when we are 35. There are so many things we haven’t seen and experienced yet and as we see more of the world our minds are likely to change. It’s okay to want to be a teacher then a dancer then a scientist then a motivational speaker. There are no rules! There are options out there that you may have never heard of but that option is waiting for you to find it.

“Am I good enough?”
Is a question many females need to stop asking themselves. The answer is, “Yes you are good enough.” Do whatever it is that makes you happy. You are worthy of the visions you see and the choices you make.

It’s okay to go into a degree and then change your mind. While you may question all the money and time that has been spent, nothing compares to your happiness and the gut feelings you get. It’s also okay to say, “University isn’t for me.”

Don’t let the world rush your decisions. Take a year out, travel, do a course, take acting lessons or try out dance school. Do something that makes you happy. Realise the things you want may change and that’s okay. Whatever you decide is up to you, and whatever you decide, let it make you happy!
